Organisational evaluation

We provide organisational evaluation services where organisations require an external assessment of the outcomes of their work, as well as reviewing the systems, organisational structure or approaches they are using to achieve their aims. We work with organisations to ensure that we understand their needs and what they want to get out of the evaluation process – often this will involve working closely with senior staff and Boards of Trustees/Directors. Our recommendations are based on thorough analysis, and focus on realistic, achievable and measurable change, tasks or activities.

Recent examples include:

  • Global Development Network – Just Ideas co-ordinated an international team of consultants to undertake an external evaluation of GDN, which networks and supports development researchers and academics from the global South. This involved extensive international online surveys and interviews with key senior stakeholders alongside researchers supported through the network. The evaluation fed in to the strategic and funding review being undertaken by the Board of GDN.
  • RCVYS – as a Big Assist supplier we evaluated the work of Reading Children’s and Voluntary Youth Services, employing a focus group approach with organisations supported by RCVYS alongside semi-structured interviews. It enabled RCVYS to think creatively about how to develop its highly rated training and support services.

Testimonials

This was a well-run project, which was carried out with a great deal of professionalism. Richard took the time to really understand the project specification, and to offer suggestions from his own extensive experience. Richard presented his findings to our AGM and Exec clearly and concisely, and has helped us to identify a number of areas for further development. We are pleased with the final report, and would consider working with Richard and Just Ideas again in the future.
